pick me

pick
pick
pick
thinking of that word, the way my mother used it, the way a woman i used to work with used it. “pick me.“ who do you pick? why would she pick him? why would he pick her?
pick it
pick on it
pick on him
pick him
“pick on“ vs pick
pick pick pick
i thought of that word, the pick word, when the image of bill gates and his wife melinda briefly flew past on the telebision. the abovementioned woman i used to work with remarked to me that she couldn‘t understand why bill gates whould “pick“ melinda based on passing observations, arbitrary criteria, white cultural standards. my mother made the same generality, assuming that the man “picked“ the woman. i don‘t rmemeber now who she referred to or the circumstance but i remember how pointedly she asked why a certain man “picked“ a certain woman. “why would he pick her?“ asked in a nasally annoyed voice.

who picks who? whom

PICK is a vulgar sounding word. it seems appropriate that it would be the action of choice for to initiate a relationship, a marriage, a life together
