Toll booth
One night on an Interstate somewhere in Florida, C was driving and we got to a toll booth. C threw his 75ยข into the bin but for some reason hit his hand against the basket into which he threw the coins. He checked his hand for damages then looked at the toll booth attendant and said “Oh, oops, I’m sorry.” The toll booth clerk, a tall, rangy black woman, flipped out. Cackling and waving her arms she hollered “YOU BAD! YOU A BAD BOY! COME RIGHT HERE, BAD BOY, MAMMA’S GONNA GIVE YOU A SPANKING!WHAHAHAHAHA!” C had paid the toll and was free to leave so he hit the gas and motored out, both of us laughing like we had never seen a black woman up close, because until that moment we had not.
